well i know the piece on the hood is lining up. i looked some more and the tension on the spring is just so high that it wont close by just droppin it like normal. i could probably push it, and i tried, but it was flexing alot so i opted not to. talked to a friend today too about it and he said he had the same problem so he just replaced the spring with a lighter one which is what i think ill do as soon as i have time. Thanks for all the input.

LOVE EM

Just really REALLY take your time mounting them up as you only get one chance to cut a hole that big in your hood.

You can see where I mounted mine. I started by taping off the area where I wanted to mount them and measuring out where the center line would be. Measured where the pin would come throug, lined it up with the support and made a mark. Measured the distance tot he the top, the bottom, did some math based on the diameter of the the two rounds, drew them up triple checked everything and then used two different hole saws for the top and bottom and a cut-off wheel to cut out the remaining.

You'll have to trim the supports on the underside of the hood to be able to get to the nuts.

Make sure you get the locking kind. I've come out to my car in the past to find the alarm tripped and one of the latches was attempted to be opened.

I love them, absolutely love them. I've heard alot of people talk poorly of them, then I come to find out they installed them in 20 minutes as opposed to the probably 4 hours that I spent. In other words, in-correct installation will result in sucky latches.

What was the verdict on the hood color Kyle? I can't remeber if you were gonna paint it or clear it? Those aerocatch's look badass. After seeing them on Brians FC I was sold, if I ever get an aftermarket hood(very soon with a couple extra goodies this winter) they would be the ones I order.

Good progress bro! Keep it up you lucky SOB

ok.. so i was hoping to have the car in primer this week but i didnt have class for 2 day which put a pretty big damper on gettin anything done. however, the body work will be finished today. i am still in need of an s5 front bumper though if anyone has one they would like to get rid of for a reasonable price. i emailed mazdatrix a couple weeks ago and they said they had one in good used condition but they wanted 250 for it and that doesnt include shipping... they also wouldnt send me any pictures. so again if anyone following me on here has one share the love !!!

Nice - I'm jealous your car is in primer and I'm still waiting on a hood to be made (its been a month now since I paid the deposit and an ETA is still nowhere to be seen)...

Hope to see some color laid down soon man, keep it up!

ah shit... well ive been pretty lazy this week..well moving but i havent felt like doing much. i missed 3 days of class because of it. but the car is remasked for the next round of primer. i think i may end up tackling the interior revamp while its in the shop too.
