I found a 78 cosmo on friday out in the country. He is interested in selling it. It ran when parked and is a really solid car compared to the other cosmos i have had. Its all complete and it looks like the interior needs most the work as its aged.

Get that shit and share parts!!

(Seriously)

Yeah, I mean if he's wanting to get rid of it for a couple hundred, its worth it. Couple thousand, no way.

Also, I think I PM'd you on the other forum about a steering wheel, but you had already sold it :(

silverfdturbo6port 01-14-2014 01:41 AM

I agree. Yea that steering wheel was out of it. I still have a set of louvers for a cosmo.

djmtsu 01-14-2014 06:37 AM

I've never seen louvers for the Cosmo. I take it they look similar to the ones for RX-3's?

Seeing your progress makes me start thinking about working on my old cosmo. sadly I have neglected it for way too long.

Get on it! From the looks of things on Facebook, and on other forums, they are making a small comeback in popularity.

Or........hand it over to me :)

1998 Mazda MPV rear axle. 5 lug, disc, internal drum parking brake (like the Cosmo), 5 link (like the Cosmo) and has the ability to run an upgraded diff (RX-8).

Another bonus is gearing. The stock is like 3.63. 2wd MPV's have 3.90, and 4wd has 4.10's.

It is a couple inches wider on each side than stock. But that is why fender flares were invented....

had 1 for years. Built the engine for it and then had my accident in the th and got put on the back burner will do more to it when the fb is done. If you ever come this way I'll show it to ya. Thinking about a resorts to black cherry to offset the chrome and maybe swap out the 4 port for a 6 port injection like the rx3 for the deliverability and economy since its heavy and will be a cruiser only

Heavy? In stock trim, they weight as much as an S4 NA Sport. That's not too shabby for something that is damn near 100% steel! At least that is what mine weighs.

Of course, the MPV axle and FC suspension stuff will add to it, but removing the A/C and many other crappy do-dads will help....a little.

JL1RX7 01-14-2014 01:11 PM

DJ remember this is the guy with 410 HP 13b in a first gen. EVERYTHING feels heavy to him!

djmtsu 01-21-2014 07:07 AM

My rear axle plan, isn't going to work. That bitch was wayyyyy too wide.

So, going GSL-SE with a 5 lug conversion.

Stay tuned, still collecting parts.
