The carter is an off the shelf at the local auto parts store not sure what model, but it doesn't make the dreadful loud buzzing sound my Holley Red pump made!! The Dell already has an upper manifold I just don't have a lower for the 12A. I'm not really sure what direction I want to go with it. The dell looks sweet and performs well im sure, my dad had a repu back when I was a kid with a S5 n/a with the dell and exhaust it seemed fuckin fast ...

Time to get that garage dirty you are taking after Bill too much on the cleanliness, be a man get stuff dirty make lots of grunting noise and mark your territory :)
I don't know which carb would be best its a toss-up since people have had good luck with each set-up and equal amounts have had bad luck, my opinion would be the Dellorto since it has been run on a rotary before and may be easier to tune but will cost more for jets than the holley

MC you know I like it dirty  Just haven't had a chance yet! Yea I want to use the Dell just wasn't sure which would be the top performer for the stock 12A. I need to check and see what jets it currently has, dad had this one on the REPU with the S5 so im sure its set to RB specs for that motor. Parts wise I think it will be the cheaper of the two also which is good news also!!
BTW you need to get up here and hang out, take some parts for powder coating and lend me those wheels Please :hurray:

2gslse 03-16-2011 09:09 PM

Maybe this weekend I can head over to see the new place

Not sure about the Sparco's but the rest of it is a match. If I can the others to agree to hang out this weekend you should come up!

RotorDad 03-17-2011 10:03 AM

Should be able to, just let me know when & if you all are getting to together. It would be good to meet some of the guys form the forum.

WE3RX7 03-17-2011 10:14 AM

I think Sat is supposed to rain early now. I've got to run up to Dulles for some parts/supplies and then I'll be back around 2-3. Got a guy coming to look at the '87 as well. I could have him meet me at your place if needed though, lol.

As for the carbs. I personally prefer holley, but the dellorto is a good system too. As MC said, you'll probably spend a bit more on the jets and tuning the carb. If you go that route, I would place a quick call to RB and see what jets they recommend/sell for a stock port 12A. Keep the old jets out of the carb for future builds. Holley jets are cheap and you can pick 'em up at Boyd's in town. Same w/ squirters...

I need to finish up the first wheel and then I can start on the rest. You still picking up your engine on Sat?

Yea I am going to swap to a 79 short rad/oil cooler, and have some new lines made up by a buddy at the local auto parts.

Also any tips on painting the keg?? I know its not going to look perfect but it will look better then it does!

An old friend of ours lives out your way with a red '94 miata on 17" kosei k1s, boosted, custom front air diverter (looks like a lip) but no sparcos to my knowledge. Also - he hardly drives the car (last I saw it had a dohnut on the front), but still... you may have seen him. Who'd have thought we'd have two boosted red miatas in culpeper, lol...

Don't encourage him, lol. Its not hard to swap that FMOC on later and the behive is sufficient for a stock ported/mildly modified 12A, lol..

Besides, LE's didn't have FMOC!! :)

I dont need encouragement for that! its already in the works :302: LE's dont have Dellortos and RB exhaust either

RotorDad 03-22-2011 06:50 PM

The guy I know with the turbo Miata is Craig Hunnicut. He's a younger cat, good guy though.

WE3RX7 03-22-2011 07:19 PM

That name sounds familiar actually... at some point we'll all need to get together. Maybe I'll throw together a meet/show in the summer, its been a while since we've done one..

Neither did my '84 GS, but dammit its getting one.

The insane heat in the summer here almost warrants it, even on a BONE stock rotary. I'm using an FC cooler :)

Just saying.

See Bill he agrees with me!! I have a FC cooler also but I think the 79 stuff will be more of a drop in application...I need a new rad any way

'84 GS isn't a rare model, thus why it wont matter :) They dont have LSD or disc brakes, but I'd throw 'em on a GS any day, lol.

On another note, honestly... the behive isn't that bad. Is the FMOC better? Absolutely. Necessary on a stock 12A - not really. Plenty of those little guys
have helped those 12As make it to 200K+ miles...

Really, I'm just picking on Chris here about it :)

WE3RX7 03-23-2011 06:57 PM

oh, and is your wiring harness done yet :)

That is why I swapped in an LSD/disc rear end!!!!!

All in all, nothing really matter except what YOU want to do!

All I know, is all these bastard cars better be at DGRR.

WE3RX7 03-23-2011 07:45 PM

We can run out there this weekend if you want. I want to pull that sunroof and door handle too, lol. I'd really like to yank that extra S4 engine but kinda stuck on room right now.

I'm bringing my RX8 to DGRR again this year. Thought about bringing the '87 but not sure it would survive, lol.
