Yep. Worked out well for both of us.

This will be my last "build" for a while. Going to start simple. Put it back together and in good mechanical condition. From there, I'll boost it and the downward spiral will begin.

last build.. BS on that.. i give this a year at the most before you buy something else

Nah. Going to keep this one. Just because I buy something, doesn't mean I'm going to 'build' it.

djmtsu 10-10-2013 08:01 AM

Need some parts:

-84-85 big bearing front spindles/uprights
-Electronic dizzy

Sad thing is, before I sold the Cosmo, I had these parts.....then I sold them and now need them again. Whoops.

Kisses ;)

Correction: *CAS.

Quit playing with carbs. Johnny just bought an e6x for $350. From where you are at, might as well spend money that you'd spend with a carb towards going EFI, not as far off as you'd think!

Smoochie Boochies!

djmtsu 10-10-2013 11:10 AM

I still have a couple CAS's. Problem isn't the cost of the computer, its the cost of everything else.

I want this car to keep the 'old school' vibe. That means ITB's. ITB's are expensive. Plus injectors, manifolds, fuel pump, regulator, fuel lines and in this case, a whole new fuel tank.

That might be down the road, who knows, even a turbo might show up. But for now, this thing needs to get down the road as soon as possible.

FerociousP 10-10-2013 12:19 PM

meh. external EFI pump (like charles').

Manis/inj/reg/lines are almost free with the scene around here... temp manis now, ITBs later to get old skool feelz...

ext efi pump, 2 INJ gslse fuel setup, well thought out rigged TPS, and whatever manis fit... and you'd be "down the road"... (this assumes you have a center iron with inj bosses, which you'll prob have by the time you swap the bad motor out.)

:lurk5: Is this the intermission? Cool project, not many have the brass cojones to tackle one of these as a project. Why not use the FC front subframe swap for the rack and pinion and brakes? Or are the RX-5 frame rails a different width than the FB/FC?

djmtsu 10-12-2013 08:12 AM

From what i know, the FC subfrsme is too wide. I will be utilizing FB big bearing front spindles and struts. This will require wheel adapters in the rear, but thats fine. If someone would measure the mounting point width of an FB/FC subframe for me, I'd have confirmation!

Hmmm. It just so happens that I have one sitting in the back of the pickup at the moment. Be right back....

... the front mounting holes are 31 inches center to center and rear holes are 31 5/8 inches center to center. If Whizbang can shoehorn one under an RX-2 I would think an RX-5 should be doable.
