I made this thread to stop the derailment of another member's INTRO thread so technically no...it's not a bad thing. It went exactly the way I thought it would. There is nothing about "stretch and poke" that is functional...it's all about the looks. Kinda like face piercings; some people think it looks cool, others laugh at the idiocy.

Tire stretching is unsafe & just a bad idea on a street driven vehicle. To all those who follow the trend, what will the next COOL thing be?

Well this epidemic is getting sad. It was bad before, but it's getting worse. People can't even post pics of thier damn cars without hearing comments like these. "you need an agressive offset & baller sizes", " the car is too high & needs more camber" & "your tires look blocky". I see comments like these about cars that look pretty damn good. The fools that make these stupid post will then go & compliment a beat up, no paint pile just because it's slammed on JDM wheels with little tires. makes no damn sense.

The thing that gets me about the whole 'aggressive fitment' thing is how everyone brags about how they 'make stuff fit'. The wheels are so ill-fitting that they have to sacrifice proper alignment and tire fitment just for bragging rights.

"Bro, I got 17x12s to fit, I had to stretch a 195 onto them and run tons of camber, but they're on there"
"Yeah well, I got 17x13s on mine! I had to use an even smaller tire and even more camber but they're on there!"
"Oh shit, gangster!!"
If you're so 'baller', why not get rims that are more optimally sized for the car?

At the end of the day, it's all about bragging rights over who can take it the farthest. Just like in the early 2000s:
"Bro, I got 400 horsepower!"
"Bro, I got 500!!"
"Shit, bro!!"
Offset, width, tire stretch and camber are the new horsepower.

True aggressive fitnment or 'flushness' is great, ie a tire with a square or slightly stretched sidewall profile, flush with the fender but not sticking out. That looks awesome, and you can actually drive aggressively that way. But once you get the wheel sitting sideways in the well and the the tire is so stretched that it looks spherical, you've gone too far and it just looks dumb now. There is absolutely nothing 'aggressive' about a car that has a smaller contact patch than stock and horrible alignment. Good luck driving aggressively like that.

it's just like any other thing that suddenly becomes popular, it starts out actually being good, then all the "look-at-me"s keep taking it further and further until it's gone so far beyond the original concept, but the masses eat it up because America loves excess.

In fact, what's flush about a sideways rim ? It's simple terminology, refer to this image:

Well I'm not going to debate the issue over there any longer or on any forum.
