It was already depressurized. Same thing happened to me. the system either leaked all the refridgerant out or someone let it out and never refilled it.

Well, all except for the compressor, and the interior part, it's out, condenser and all!

The best thing about the ac being removed...the weight savings not being the issue...is the face that once you pull that godforsaken ac condensor(is that the term for it?) from out in front of your radiator you pull in SO MUCH MORE AIR. When I first had all the components in teh bay the stock temp gauge would regularly be at the 1/3 to 1/2 mark, after the unit was removed it would sit just above 1/4 right in a happy place. But now that i have a leaking and multi-fin bent radiator its back up to 1/3-1/2 on the stock gauge....koyo to the rescue.

Oh and for those wondering, the EPA wont know it unless you tell it.

Mine was an accident, I was trying to change the oil, but instead I unbolted all of my AC components and carefully removed them so that I can eventually put them back in place. Oops?

Weird thing is... even though my AC system WORKED (poorly) prior to taking it out, only a puff of "air" came out when I unscrewed it.. Lasted a second or two. Wore a respirator... that stuff causes super-aids. Just one teaspoon in your butt and your dead in 3 weeks.

Me and my buddies used to go to the junkyards and have contests. We would see could hold their head under the car hood the longest without passing out while releasing the A/C.
I won every time
