First thing to check is whether the fuel pump is running when the key is in the "on" position. If it is, there could be a blockage either in the fuel line somewhere or in the pickup tube in the tank.

Floats are stuck? Try banging on the top of the carb with a plastic hammer (or, since nobody actually owns a plastic hammer, something similar). This might jar them loose and allow gas to enter the bowls.

Good carb info available at www.sterlingmetalworks.com

Good luck.

I second the floats being stuck in the up position. Try tapping it like Kentetsu says. If that doesn't work, take the top of the carb off and make sure they move freely, and check for debris or whatever at the same time.

gas only lasts about 3-4 months, it will burn in air even 20 years from now but it won't explode in the engine- Change that-
and hopefully you checked your compression first
