Question 83 gsl with sidedraft dellorto 48ida dhla

So I recently installed my carburator and am having some issues. Please take in mind this is my FIRST rotary vehicle so I'm a novice on tuning. This intake was pulled off a 84 gsl with a blown motor i'm hesitant to run it the way it is set up currently. Mainly becouse when idling it seems to be cutting out and as soon as you apply gas it starts cutting out more then dies. My engine was performing very well prior to instalation. I am assuming it's flooding the engine or my air to fuel mixture is wrong??? Any tips or hints with this would be greatly appreciated. Live in Tulsa oklahoma not too much rotor support

Its a Dellorto 48 DHLA, no IDA involved.

What condition is the carb in? Is it clean? Did you rebuild it?

Whats the fuel pressure into the carb?

Does it idle at all?

I know it's a few months old just before the engine blew it sat for 3 years after it blew I took the top side appart and cleaned the fuel resaviour then put it back together it didn't seem very dirty.

I have the car running it's just not responding the right way. It's running off the fuel pump 3.7-4.7 should I regulate the pressure?

I appreciate the help by the way

Ok, so one key thing is to keep the pressure at 3 psi or less. 2.5 psi is ideal.
It will run pig rich otherwise because it floods the bowls. Probably part of your
problem here. Don't use a cheapo Mr. Gasket dial type regulator either, they
restrict the flow too much. Speaking of flow, even tho its a low pressure (2.5 psi)
the carb needs at least a 45gph flow rate. The stock fuel pump won't do that
even tho it does put out about 2.5 psi. Not sure what your using.

Heres a site that can help you with it www.gruntled.com/Dellorto.
Go thru that site an learn all it tells you.

Have a stock fuel pump I'm assuming from what I've read it's a necessary upgrade to go and replace the pump? What would be your suggestion on a pump and regulator?

I went with a Carter 4070 and a Holley regulator. The pump is a bit noisy and
doesn't mount the same way as the stock one, so its a bit more work. I used
run dual Facets but they got weak and I had to replace them. They were very
quiet tho. I think most of the rotary vane type pumps are a bit noisy.
