I think my question is related:

I just recently replaced my sp 12A (lost compression) with a stock 12A. It was running the "bee hive" cooler so I pulled it already and am running a front mount. Can the hard coolant line that's still back there be unscrewed and that port plugged or ...? I didn't want to attempt to remove it yet and potentially shoot myself in the foot and introduce a new problem that didn't exist. Right now I've capped both openings but they're still leaking a bit.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about with the orange arrow pointing out the hardline I'm referring to. (it's not my engine by the way):

i think those r just pressed into the housing. last one i did i just cut it off just behind where it T's off towards the firewall so there's just the single piece sticking out.

thanks for the input,however i've decided to use my se engine in my son's car.
