I pulled off the entire front pulley before realizing what I was doing.
Engine is sitting on the floor in my garage, has not been touched since I removed the center bolt. Is there a way to look down the hole and see if the washer moved? or do I just need to bite the bullet and pull the front cover. |

unless you turned the motor or bumped the shaft it should be ok. put the pulley back on and start cinching it down slowly, if the bearing fell it will begin to get difficult to turn after the bolt is snug, at which point the cover needs to come off.

There's specs to measure the depth of the bolt inside the pulley to tell if the bearing has slipped or not.
This is all shown in the FSM. -Ted |

I have an '89 FSM, and found it in section C, page C-62. Assuming your '87 manual follows the same format, you'll find it in section C, but the page # and specs may be a little different - don't know myself. FYI, below is the content from the '89 FSM. Recommend you find same content in your '87 FSM and use those specs instead.

for the record. 87 manual has the exact same figure and number.
