It's not a crazy essential piece. (except when it comes to filling your oil)
The primary reason for these is to have a blot on solution for use with the Xcessive lower intake manifold. I have seen some ugly examples of burnt/melted and bent stock filler necks to accommodate the movement of the upper when using the Xcessive lower. Also, these have a baffle (not an extreme one, but it will help) built in to help prevent oil from travelling up the filler neck on long right hand sweepers. Combine this baffled filler neck with an opposite side oil-pan area vent, and it should completely solve the problem. The secondary reason for these is to offer a nice looking solution to the guys that want to run -an lines for vents and catch cans, (or use -6 to hose barb adapter fittings, totally an option) The third reason: It looks cool. As for the lines connecting to it, that would need to be figured out on an individual basis. There is a lot of information out there as to what types of setups work best for what goals. Personally, I will be running the dual -6 with the bottom port being ran to a vent line attached to the rear turbo oil drain port to vent the curb side of the engine (the filler neck vents the road side) That way, air pressure has a route out no matter which way the oil is sloshing during a turn. The top vent will be routed to a catch can.

ok
Still if it needs to be done i will ask this can i use the desighn to make my own ? an a question on oil cooling. was thinking of taking the beehive off and doing a chevy s10 style 4x4 after market oil cooler with a inline filter. got most of the desighn figured out, but not sure how much mass an cooling these things can take, it would only add anothe 3/4ths of a quart a quart at most. it would sit with my eventual electric fan and inter cooler set up i am plotting out.
