				2009 Rx-8 R3

A nearby dealership got in the new 2009 RX-8s yesterday, including an R3 in Aurora Blue. Curious as I am, I went and took the R3 for a test drive! The 09s look a lot better in person than in pictures in my opinion, I really like the 19" wheels. On the inside the steering wheel is... ugly. BUT, the seats are very nice. They fit my body very well, very snug and supportive. I might have to snag some sometime for my 8. I didnt really notice the transmission gear ratio changes changes thoguh reverse is now where 1st is instead of 6th, but overall it does feel a bit stiffer and more composed. One really nice change is the dipstick, dont laugh, but you can now reach it from on top of the engine. In other words, you can check the oil in the dark or low light settings and not burn yourself!!! If I didnt already have an 8 I might have left there with it, doesnt cost much more than a GT trim 8, it was only $300 more than an 09 GT they had on site. |

No pics, but it did happen. I swear! If I got one of the R3s (or any 2009 8) my first mod would be swapping out that steering wheel. |

I would like to use some of your (sumdeus and others) opinion about the new vs old 8 on the new RCC Digizine that's coming out in Sept. Can you guys post your thoughts here and give me permission to use it in the digizine?? PHIL

Feel free to use my opinions. I would love to get the R3 bumper on my 07, but because of the headlights and new sidemarkers, the 09 RX-8s and R3s body parts are not compatible. The R3 bumper looks very... Darth Vaderish. The R3 wheels are also quite expensive from what I gater. |

^You could always just buy the '09 fenders and then you will be able to install the R3 bumper. But it would be expensive.

Not as expensive as the wheels. I understand that they are OEM... and limited production... but a set of 4 wheels... I could but a running FD...

I think it looks like the R8 a little bit, which is badass... on an unrelated note, my S5 OMP might be broken, lol. .jpg)

Yes, I am in complete love with those wheels. I was fortunate enough to see two R3's driving down the highway on my way out of town one day. It was really cool cruising with two black Rx8's Drivers gave me a big smile and thumbs up as well. I still haven't gotten to drive one, but I love the look on the R3 package for sure.
