I know of an SA in a Kennedale salvage yard but I couldn't get to it before Thursday, weather permitting...I'll check to see what it has wiring-wise if you want me to buy it off the guy.

I got the interior trim posts and the wires leading up to the tabs you see on the outside of the trim...two problems.
One, the coiled section of wire is an FB feature...I'm not sure but the spades in the 1980 trim piece suggests to me that the wire was soldered onto the glass and that the female tab is part of that wire hanging off the glass for the SA's...the FB is turned around. Second, the wiring. It is a single wire running underneath both trim pieces...both of those wires go into the main harness for the rear lights which is a 7/16" bundle of wires...I cut back the electric tape covering about two inches on that harness to expose more of the defroster wire going into that bundle and then made my cut there. Question....do you even have the switch that for the defroster up front? This car's exterior body is in really good shape...a shame it's in the salvage yard. ![]()

If you have the switch in the dash, then there sould be a connector with wire behind that. That will go into a main harness and that harness will go to the back, so what you need is to make the final connections in back and it's not a plug in affair, unfortunately.
Here's what I got...the green arrow indicates that tab got split...the other one is in good condition... top view... bottom view with wire attached... In the back area, the harness that has the connectors for the tail-lights will also have the wires you need to connect to these trim pieces. Whether they are cut back there or coiled and never used, I don't know...worst case scenario has some chump just cutting them right at the harness, so only a tiny stub with a corroded core will be left to try to find. What the color of the wire should look like and how big it is can be found by simply looking at the trim pieces...it doesn't change as it goes into the harness. You just need to solder and shrink wrap the trim wire to the wires you find in that rear harness and that part is done. The actual glass on the donor car had been stripped clean, so I don't know what that side looks like. Hopefully you still have your wires attached to your glass. There is no aftermarket kit, so salvage yard is the only option...here's what these two items cost me to get...John's yard 10 minutes from my casa... Let me know what you want to do, this is really your only option to restore the stock defroster on the glass. If you lived closer, I could've gotten all this done for you. If you look behind your switch and there is no connector or wire (which I find highly unlikely, but possible...) back there, then let me know and I'll get the piece coming out of the main harness on Thursday...I should be able to convince John it should have gone with the trim pieces and get it for free.

***bump***have you had a chance to check out if the 'capped' wires have the other cut end sticking out of the main under-dash harness? I've got these two trim pieces ready to go to get the back section done for you...
