AZRR Build
Hello all,
New to the rotary scene. I bought my dream car 94 FD after my old chevy truck died. Had a little over 150,000 miles onto it with the original motor. I just needed a daily driver to get me to work and back. Nothing flashy or crazy fast. I bought a 94 FD with under 60,000 miles on it. Thought it was a low mileage car that was going to last me a little bit before i had to put any money into it. BTW didn't do any research on the car and that was a big mistake. I bought it from a older lady that was the original owner. This was her baby and I knew it was well taken care of. She all her records of what was done to the car. Two file folders full of everything that down to every oil change. So I didn't think there was going to be any problem with the car. I bought it in Phoenix AZ and drove it to Tucson. It was a 142 mile trip that ended badly. I just filled up the car at the gas station close to my house and was going to go home when the car stuttered and started to smoke real bad. I pulled over and tried to figure out what was going on. Again didn't know anything about turbo cars let alone rotaries. So I ended up calling for a tow back. Made it 1/2 way home and the chain fell off the car for the second time. I was tired and just wanted to get home so i drove it the rest of the way home. About a mile. The car was smoking so bad that one of the local cops followed me home. He thought the car was on fire and made sure everything was ok. He had pulled me over before and wanted to check out my motorcycle collection. I have about 12 bikes and race at a local track. That is why i don't need a fast or flashy car. So I talked to one of my good friends and he told me that the turbo was probably broken and that i would need a new one. He told me that he had one and would install it for me. It was going to take him to long so he told me about a local shop that would do it. That is where it sits today. Glen at Arizona Rotary Rockets has the car and it is going to be a beast when it is done. Turbine on the turbo separated and exploded going though the motor. It was going to be a quick turbo swap and turned into this.... Here is the build of the car. I think that is most of the work. The car has been down scene January some time and should been done around February. I got sent overseas and told the shop they have a year to build the car. BTW great shop and very understanding. Sometimes they tell me what I don't want to hear but they don't lie to me or bullshit me. We are hoping to hit around 500 rwhp at 23 psi but around 320 rwhp at 8 psi for daily driving. The first pics are when I got the car home. |
