To RX-8 or not to RX-8?

I currently have a FC which is my daily driver, which isn't the greatest since it needs work and has no A/C and I live in FL. I have allows like the 8, and I almost bought one but I owed too much on my old mustang which is since gone. Every time I drove one I want one. I once cursed out a friend who let me drive his, because I convinced myself having more that one Wankel powered car is too much. TiTT quickly changed my mind. I was thinking about getting the 2nd series RX-8 they are just now getting to be affordable, however the color I like is only available on the R3 tirm level which raises the price a bit. So I am asking the 8 owners what year range is the best to look at. I know to try to buy one with less then 8 years and 100,000 miles, engine warranty. I really want one but the wife comes 1st and I plan on getting a MS3 as a new "family car" since her cavailer is getting old.

I own both NA FC's and series one 8. I would say buy one if you like the FC's. It is a truly upgraded NA FC. Handles better than most anything out there. Decent power for the car. Yes it could always use more but that is a totally other argument. Now the Series two 8 is the better of the two cars. They fixed most of the issues with the reni. Back to three oil injectors, bigger oil filter etc. Redesigned the rear end to make it handle even better. Foam injected frame rails etc. Me I didn't like changes to the interior and the front end that smiles at you. But those are totally subjective.

I wasn't sure what changes mazda made to the S2 RX-8, other then the redline having a progressive system to it, won't rev to 9k untill the car is fully warm.

They are huge. It is almost a totally new engine. I think on rx8club they have all the differences between the two. Other than the frame it is a new car. Even bigger than the changes from S4 to S5.
