Nissanconvert's non-sequential 3rd gen build.

This is a combination of my introduction post and an ongoing build thread. Mods, if this isn't the place for this please let me know.

I got my 1993 Base/Touring Rx-7 almost two years ago. It's got a whole bunch of miles but despite some poorly executed modifications it's still running strong. When i purchased the car it had allegedly been street-ported (still have not confirmed), the radiator had been replaced with a koyo, poor-man's non-sequentials, aluminum AST, and a 3" exhaust (no catalytic converter) from the turbos back, stock ecu, tokico struts, & aftermarket sway bars. With the car i purchased an uninstalled power-fc and sway bar endlinks.

I've put a catalytic converter on the car, both to pass MD smog and to prevent overboosting; however i still have to control boost with my right foot, despite the profec bspec II i've installed.

From the top important stuff only:
Street ported engine- i've had knowledgeable people tell me it sounds streetported. That's far from a confirmation, but that wasn't really a selling point for me. The company that allegedly did it: "reactive racing" doesn't seem to answer their phone.

poor man's non-sequentials- i will never again purchase a third gen rx-7 with this performed. i can't go back to sequential because the boost/vacuum chamber has been removed, there are bolts in vacuum lines, etc, etc.

exhaust, no cat- certainly opened the car up. the non-sequential turbos boosted ridiculously fast, loud as hell, won't pass smog, etc. this could have covered up problems with the turbos. I don't think it did, but it could have. the welds look like they were applied with a supersoaker.

un-installed PFC- the car should have blown up before i even bought it, or shortly there-after since i was a novice to FD's. after installation i can't believe that anyone runs their car on the stock ecu.

so- despite these issues, my car is my DD. I get in to the loud pedal fairly often but i've learned to be very judicious with the boost. i'm looking for parts to complete the non-sequential job with as little down time as possible. low mileage twins and a manifold primarily. i know there's interest on the rx7club website for an aftermarket manifold for twins, depending on my time line i might look in to that. because driving an un-boost-controlled rx-7 for a year and a half has made me paranoid i want to get a greddy boost pressure relief valve. i'm looking in to fabricating a v mount from the koyo and an evo intercooler. i've seen it done before and it seemed to fit fairly well. not to mention i already have the radiator and the intercooler will cost less than a tenth of what i'd pay for a v-mount.

I think i've rambled sufficiently, feel free to comment and constructively criticize.

I finally figured out my boost control issue, it seems that two port wastegate actuators must have both ports addressed. Apparently the previous owner didn't want the wastegate to ever open. In any case, boost is now controlled, but will not hold over ~6 psi. Still working....

Nice FD...Got any interior pictures? Looks like a full red interior from your pictures.

It's all red, the dash and console had a cf applique, but "it started to peel" so the previous owner took it off. It's another work in progress...
