I'm waiting for those guys to just set me up with a cot in their breast-feeding room

I actually just lost the rest of my weekdays off after this week until 5/2.... then I'll be really short on weekends off I sent Dave an email yesterday about getting together to dick around with my 6-spd again either the 9th or the 16th and to sched a dyno playdate on the 23rd... So those are my plans. I know I won't be able to get there on the 15th though... sorry man... Anyone else going with you? Plans to stay in the area overnight?

i wasnt refering to your car anyways, but if you have it already then why say you need another one? almost all the systems on the FC are independent of each other, if you get a stand alone the CC wont even realize it

but dont quote me on that, the FC has been known to have retarded wiring, with things that are not needed being there and other things being MIA and on and on....ive found connectors i still have no clue what use they may have had

idk we will see how the funds go, the biggest thing left is finding a good price on the turbo i want, so far the best number i found was 1480 shipped, im still doing some digging to see if anyone can beat that

only time will tell

I'd say something about the cobb, but I don't know where to start! There's got to be more you can do than uncork the exhaust.... Damn, if we could play with timing... you could definately take it up a notch...This instigating is fun

In the S4 world. I've seen that most of them are pretty much the same. The only difference that I've seen is in the rear harness, some have the rear window wiring, some don't, but as far as I remember, the front and EM harnesses are all the sameeeeeeee.... eeeeeee save the obvious n/a turbo differences.

Builds boost on it's own.... at least it still works.

The one thing with installing them in the FC with a standalone, where to get the required signals? I would do a Hall Effect sensor off the driveshaft personally, or some other way other than tapping into the ignition system.

Don't think so. You can usually setup an account before you've finished your car if you think you're going to race.

Why don't you have an FC?

He doesn't want an FC because there would be no point to building a car.. he'd already have the perfect one.

I would like to play with the timing some on the cobb with the GM coils. I actually took some of Dave's adjustment and built a new map for the rx8 as well. When we go back up for the dyno, I'll run it on the stock tune (which we proved was by far the best thus far) and then again with the new map and see where we are. I dont want to dive into tuning the timing at that point, I'd rather get some more monitoring in place (EGT, etc) before getting too far into it.

Anyway... sorry for the thread jack. Actually, I'm not. Without thread jacks, this would just be another boring turbo swap FC build thread that nobody really pays attention to and is only destined to end as they all do with the owner scrapping the whole idea and going V8

Had a FC at one time it was a bare-bones '86 no sunroof, steel wheeled, aluminum hood car fun to drive but wasn't my style I sold it for a profit and bought FB parts. I've always loved the FB's lines more than the FC.

well i know for the fd it uses the spedo sensor and the NSS, idk about the fc since i never had...well anything on that car

i would imagine since CC came on the higher end models that it gets the signal somewere from one of the VSS since at least the s4 uses a real spedo cable, i dont think it would use that

but really thats all you would need to make it a closed system since it has its own little module...unless mazdatrix has been lying to us all these years

So I figured I'd give the last official update for the next 12 days anywho as I am now officailly in CA.... weeee!!!!! and all you CA's can suck it, I know it, you know it, you all lie about your weather. Everytime I come here it's cold and rainy..... I should've stayed east.... at least there we get snow.

So anywho... here was the progress over the weekend. I got the new overflow for the fuel cell built and installed.. here it be. This should prohibit the fuel in the cell from expanding and puking out the vent in the fill recess and stripping the paint.... that would be bad... mmmmkay

Also finally got the interior back together with this little gem. I installed a 12V power outlet in the glovebox becuase the one on the dash was sketchy at best.... I also went out and bought the 12V adapter for the laptop as well.... so I eliminated the need for an inverter and opened myself up to unlimited tuning in the car..... SCORE!!!!

Next was addressing the gaskets in the fuel cell. The ethanol resistant Buna-n sheet gasket that I bought lasted 6 months before the whole thing rotted away, chunck broke off, fuel started spilling out when she was parked with a high ass and a full tank, and of course my fuel filter clogged..... AGAIN.....
When I opened up the tank, I found some discolored and semi-clogged fuel socks. Not wanting to wait alll that long for replacements, i had my guys at Levine cross check some denso numbers and got two new socks... woooot!

So now the cell is installed, leak tested, new filters all around, and just generally ready to kick some ass!

I thought about a few things like that, but honestly, there's plenty of room to get an 11/16" and a 3/4" wrench up there to loosen them.

Also on the list of upgraded goodies this winter are new brakes, at all four corners, and a new master and adjustable prop valve and splitter. The problem with the Wilwood masters is that the bolt patern don't line up worth a damn. At least it's off by an evn 90* making the mounting pretty easy, just need to do a little math.

Stock master vs Wilwood 1" bore Master

I found an old piece of some structural 3/8" steel that turned out to be the perfect size for the master and adj prop valve to mount to the existing brake booster valve. After all the math and double checking and then rechecking I drilled and tapped the appropriote holes. I obviously need some longer bolts

Here it sits before cutting... and as it will sit for the next 12 days I really wanted to get that bitch mounted and partially plumbed before I left, but whatever, not a HUGE deal by anymeans... didn't get the engine pulled either, that pissed me off though.

And here's an oh shit picture. Noticed this when I was mocking up some more things to weld onto my radiator Here is the benefit to ducting. The only way for the blades to hit the cage like this is from air pushing them into it. If the fan was on, the blades would be pulled into the core, not the other way around..... I wonder if blasting across the desert @ 130mph had something to do with this?

No matter, I need to build a new shround and use 8" fans x2 becuase of the belly pan I plan on building. So this will go on the ever expanding wall of fame, wall of shame, it dun blowed up shelf...

AAAAANNNNNDDDDD just for Vex. I actually have the wheel here with me in case we need to grab a few more measurements. The key measurement though is the ID. I mic'ed the hub up to 3.25" So whatever you feel is adequate clearance to keep the bitch centered, and keep it as strong as possible. 3.26" maybe? 3.255"?
