Possible temporary solution.
Build a wooden block of such shape to fill the inside of the center console. Design cup holder into block of wood. This way when you want the cup holder you open the center console, dig out whatever is in there, put the wood piece in, put the crap that was in there in the front of the wood piece and the drink in the back. No screws, no fuss, disappears in a second (out the window?).
