Idle problems
Ok I own a NA 87 RX7. Whenever I crank the car in the morning time the car revs high then after it will rev at about 1K. Then maybe a few seconds later it shuts down on its own. The thing is, once the car warms up a little the car doesn't shut down but it idles at either 500 to 800 rpms (not sure if thats normal). Are there any ideas what the problem could be? And sorry for the poor description, this is my first time dealing with a rotary.

Check your TPS make sure it's reading 1v if you're setting it via voltage test style. I would also highly recommend upgrading your ECU to RTek2.1 and don't look back. But then again it might be more than you want or need... but come on you know you want to. Do it. Come on. It'll be fun.

I also have an 87' a good piece of information would be whether it sustains the 3000 rpms for a few seconds or not. If it does then your fine 750 rpms is what they are supposed to idle at. If you look on the inside of your hood thats what it says. when you start it up in the morning it may be shutting off because its still running a little to rich, give it a little gas for a few seconds and it will clear up it literally just sounds like it needs to clear its throught, once it leans out it will be good.

You got it right on the head. That's what I usually have to do in the morning.
